Karl-Josef Kuhn

Karl-Josef Kuhn is since several years heading the research and development of Power2X and storage technologies within Siemens. The origin of this department was in the central R&D labs of Siemens and the department was started by the innovation push of Karl-Josef and it is constantly growing. Recently the department was moved closer to the business into the Gas and Power business of Siemens.

Prior Karl-Josef was within Siemens Corporate Technology one of the initiators of the electric car business unit which was span off to the joint venture ValeoSiemens. He was responsible for research and predevelopment projects for new electrical motors, power electronics, charging devices and new configuration for electric/electronic architectures of electric vehicles.

Before joining Siemens Corporate Research Karl-Josef was responsible in Continental and Siemens VDO for the electrification of power trains.

Karl-Josef held several management positions within Siemens worldwide. During these assignments Karl-Josef managed a Siemens affiliate company, established railroad business in China, managed the development and sales of electronics for automotive applications and was active in software research for network-, database- and operating-systems.

He joined Siemens in 1984 after receiving a Diploma in Computer Science and Business Administration of the University of Darmstadt.
