The Kofi Annan Foundation, European Commission and One Young World are pleased to invite you to a youth-led discussion on the crucial contribution of young people in preventing and countering violent extremism - "Extremely Together - Youth Perspectives on Preventing & Countering Violent Extremism".
Violent extremism has become not only a global but also a generational struggle. With more than half the world’s population under 30, violent extremism counts a disproportionate number of young people amongst its victims or perpetrators. But young people are also uniquely placed to counter extremism and are already doing so as role models, teachers, family members, friends or mentors.
This one-day conference will be an opportunity to showcase the work of the ten young leaders of the "Extremely Together" initiative funded by the European Commission and highlight the efforts of other young people effectively challenging intolerance and extremist voices. The event will launch a guide on youth engagement on PVE/CVE prepared by the Extremely Together young leaders with the aim to encourage, mobilise and inspire other young people to follow this lead and take action within their own communities.
The day will include a series of youth-led panel discussions, and special interventions by Kofi Annan, Chair of the Kofi Annan Foundation, and Neven Mimica, European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development.
