The One Young World Summit is at the heart of the Delegate experience, and the gateway to lifelong membership into a unique community of over 15,500 outstanding young leaders.
As part of our wider Global Leadership Programme, prior to the Belfast Summit, we offer a six-month series of digital events designed to provide delegates with enhanced and comprehensive leadership skills and principles, alongside expertise around this year’s plenary themes.
Delegates will also have the opportunity to find out what to expect from the Summit, how to prepare, and the chance to connect with their peers.

Our second session of the Delegate Leadership Programme will focus on addressing the urgent issue of the global food crisis.
In the second half of the session, Delegates will be joined by a highly impactful member of the One Young World Community who has made a significant impact in tackling the global food crisis. The Ambassador will draw on their own experience as a leader in this area to inspire Delegates into creating their own impact in the field.

The third official session of the programme explored the core principles of ethical leadership in tackling the climate emergency. In the second half of the session, Delegates were joined by a highly impactful member of the One Young World Community to discuss one of the core plenary topics at the upcoming Summit in Belfast: Climate Emergency.
As with all sessions, it included an opportunity to meet and network with fellow Delegates in the One Young World programme, from all around the world.

Our fourth session of the Global Leadership Programme will address the challenge of improving global mental health. The session will begin with brief introductions and a speech from our keynote speaker, who has made a significant impact in the field of mental health. In the second half of the session, delegates will be joined by a One Young World Ambassador, who will lead an interactive workshop about the session topic. As with all sessions, participants will have the opportunity to meet and network with fellow One Young World Delegates, from all around the world.
Keynote Speakers:
Diana Chao - Founder, Letters to Strangers
Diana is a 22-year-old first-generation Chinese-American immigrant from southern California. Chao founded Letters to Strangers (L2S) when she was a sophomore in high school after bipolar disorder nearly ended her life. By beginning to heal through letters, she discovered that writing is humanity distilled into ink. Today, L2S is the largest global youth-for-youth mental health nonprofit, impacting over 35,000 people on six continents. For this effort, Chao has been named a 2020 L'Oreal Paris Woman of Worth, 2020 Princess Diana Award winner, Oprah Magazine's 2019 Health Hero, the youngest winner of the Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Award, and the only American winner of the 2019 Global Changemakers cohort.
Victor Ugo - Founder, MANI
Dr. Victor is a renowned mental health advocate, and a leader in the conversation around youth participation, leadership and innovation. As the founder of Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative (MANI), one of Africa's largest youth-led and user-led mental health networks - Victor’s work facilitated the revolution in the way many young Nigerians talk and think about their mental health.
Jîn Dawod - Founder, Peace Therapist
Jin, a Computer Engineer, is also studying International Relations. She is an Executive member of the Şanlıurfa Women Entrepreneurs Board in the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, founder of Peace Therapist Enterprise and Peace Software company and Co-Founder at Urfa Urfa Agro Women's Production Initiative cooperative, which provides economic empowerment among disadvantaged women in rural areas, by making organic and natural traditional products.
Our fifth session of the Global Leadership Programme will hear more about our 2023 host city Belfast, its history, and its contribution to global peace and reconciliation efforts. The session will begin with brief introductions and a speech from our keynote speaker, who has made a significant impact in the field of peace and reconciliation.
In the second half of the session, delegates will be joined by a One Young World Ambassador, who will lead an interactive presentation about the session topic. As with all sessions, participants will have the opportunity to meet and network with fellow One Young World Delegates, from all around the world.
