Dawar Karim
Delegate Speaker for the Ethical Leadership Plenary Challenge
My name is Dawar Karim, born on June 21, 1996 in Kurdistan Region in North of Iraq. I have graduated in Information Technology at The American University of Iraq, Sulaimany. I am co-founder at Plus the Edge company, which is a technology and digital marketing consultancy firm based in Iraq and the UK. I have a huge interest in tech entrepreneurship in the context of the Middle East. My more than 7 years of being in the tech industry has helped me to develop the skill of explaining complicated technology related concepts to non-techy audiences and help the young tech enthusiasts to land jobs or start their own entrepreneurial journey. Therefore, besides being co-founder at Plus the Edge, I became host at The Tech Show, a prominent technology TV show on Kurdsat Broadcasting Corporation in Kurdistan. The Tech Show is a weekly TV show explaining the most recent disruptive technology developments locally and globally. Also, I have co-founded Psoola, which is the only digital ticket selling platform here in Iraq. In the last two years, I have started to promote Tech Entrepreneurship in Kurdistan Region in Iraq. I have launched/participated in various entrepreneurship/tech entrepreneurship to further promote the concept of small personal business within the youth community in Kurdistan Region. I am a sincere believer of economic diversification. I believe that instead of having enterprises control all aspects of the market, we need to promote small personal businesses in order to build a less fragile economy. My area of expertise has dragged me into business and ethical leadership, which made me fall in love with helping startups survive using the real power of technology. My area of interest is to solve social and business issues through using recent technologies.
