Asiya founded Conflict Women following the One Young World Summit 2013. This social enterprise financially empowers survivors of domestic and sexual violence by facilitating market access for their jewellery and art. Each survivor receives a regular monthly income for up to two years. During that time, Conflict Women provides women training in business development and jewellery design. The women are mentored in conflict resolution methods so that they may assist others who have been victims of abuse. Asiya advises not-for-profit organisations providing safe houses and shelters, helping them to integrate social business models with their fundraising, as well as providing policy advice to governments and international organisations on human rights and gender. Conflict Women recently received an award in the Idea to Innovation (i2i) category from the Ministry of Planning and Sustainable Development in Trinidad and Tobago. As a result Asiya will get financial and technical support enabling her to expand Conflict Women.
