Thiri Tin has worked for the research team of the Rakhine Commission, which was formed by the President of Myanmar to investigate the communal violence in Rakhine State that left more than 100,000 displaced. She was involved in data collection, supporting interviews and the preparation of reports to identify the catalysts of conflict in an attempt to put prevention measures in place. The Rakhine Commission research team then formed the local NGO, Center for Diversity and National Harmony (CDNH), with an overall goal of promoting tolerance, social harmony and peaceful coexistence in Myanmar. The center has set up an early warning and early response system to monitor communal conflict across the country. The early warning and early response system aims to prevent man made conflict by sustaining a tracking system and database that stores, links and analyses variables related to communal violence. Thiri Tin has given capacity building training to the local community and conflict prevention training to government officials.
