Chris Thorp

Responsible Business Director Jaguar Land Rover

Developing and communicating Jaguar Land Rover’s reputation as a responsible business is central to Chris’ role, which he took up in 2017.

As Responsible Business Director, Chris leads Jaguar Land Rover’s global internal communications alongside the company’s sustainability and social impact activities.

As consumers increasingly choose to buy from companies that demonstrate their commitment to purpose as well as profit, Chris’ role in Jaguar Land Rover’s Corporate Affairs function is focussed on communication, communities and sustainability.

His focus is on building a proven track record for Jaguar Land Rover as a socially responsible company, matching the global acclaim and public perception enjoyed by the award-winning range of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles, with Jaguar Land Rover’s own people acting as ambassadors.

Chris moved to his current role after spending four years as Senior Global PR Manager for Land Rover, during which time he oversaw a number of high-profile campaigns including the Guinness World Record-breaking reveal of the latest Land Rover Discovery and the launch of the Range Rover Velar.

Prior to joining Jaguar Land Rover, Chris was in charge of developing Nissan’s European PR content strategy across 23 separate markets. As well as learning to address the needs of multiple cultures, he gained valuable experience of electrification as Nissan made an early entry into the electric vehicle market with the Leaf.

Previously Chris worked as a director at automotive media communications consultancy Newspress, leading a 30-strong team through a challenging competitive period which he describes as a hugely insightful business apprenticeship.

Chris spent the early days of his career as a journalist on UK weekly motoring magazine Auto Express, where he launched the publication’s first commercial website.

When not at work Chris is busy with his young family, enjoying life back in the Midlands having grown up in Shropshire.
