Ambassador of Colombia in Kenya

Mónica de Greiff is a lawyer from Rosario University and has worked in important management positions in both the public and private sectors. Currently she is the Colombian Ambassador in Kenya after her role as the Executive President of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá, leading the strategic direction of the entity and contributing to the construction of Bogotá as a more prosperous and sustainable region.

 

Prior to the Chamber of Commerce, she was CEO of Bogota´s Energy Group from 2009 to 2013. While in this position, Ms. de Greiff designed and executed an expansion strategy, in which the Group acquired shares in companies Promigas, Contugas, Cálidda, and Trecsa, which enabled the Bogota Energy Group to become the leader in the gas and energy sector in the Andean region. Between 2008 and 2009, she was appointed as Secretary of Economic Development of Bogota, where she implemented an Entrepreneurship Promotion Plan, which focused on offering technical training and credit access. Ms. de Greiff has been an independent consultant in strategic communications, legislative monitoring, and legal advisor in procurement’s issues.

 

She has also held the following positions: Administrative Assistant Manager of Bogota´s Urban Development Institute (IDU for its acronym in Spanish), General Secretary of the Mines and Energy Ministry (1995 -1998), member of the National Television Commission on behalf of the President of the Republic of Colombia, International Counselor for the Presidency of the Republic of Colombia, Vice-president of Legal and Public Affairs for Shell Colombia (1991-1994). Also, Ms. de Greiff was the first woman to be appointed as Minister of Justice in 1989.
