Ambassadors for Peace: Ukraine

This event series has been designed to connect and empower One Young World Ambassadors, peacebuilders, and humanitarian responders to address the escalating consequences of conflict. The first session of the series will focus on the ongoing and escalating situation in Ukraine.

The session, hosted by One Young World in collaboration with experts in our Community, will also feature a keynote presentation from a specialist guest speaker.

The aim of the session is to identify clear action points that can be taken to mobilise the One Young World Community to mobilise essential humanitarian responses and advocate effectively for peace.

Host

Daniel Zapata Castro

Daniel is a Colombian activist with experience in community-led peacebuilding. He has worked with the national and local government, in the implementation of the Colombian Victims Law and processes of reintegration and reincorporation of ex-combatants into civilian life. He has also worked with companies such as Indelible Social, seeking to strengthen the process of economic and community reintegration. of more than 100 signatories of the peace agreement, their families and neighboring communities in Antioquia, through the construction of relationships with local actors. and strategic allies. Daniel is also the One Young World Coordinating Ambassador for Colombia and works with the Community in Latin America and the Caribbean to drive engagement among young leaders.

Keynote Speaker

Mariia Zavada

Mariia is a member of the Youth Council under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. She is currently a Master's student at the Faculty of International Relations in V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Serving as a local government program associate at the International Republican Institute, Mariia is actively engaged in promoting democratic principles and effective governance practices. As a member of the "Platform of Public Diplomacy" and the Youth Council at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Mariia is committed to shaping global discourse and fostering youth involvement in diplomatic affairs, exemplifying leadership and dedication in international relations.

Ulyana Shtybel

Our Ambassador, Ulyana Shtybel, is bringing trust and transparency to the relationship between corporate donors and humanitarian organisations. Her organisation Enkidu allows institutional donors and charities to review and analyse humanitarian needs from government and verified civic society organisations, select the exact procurement orders they want to fund, pay directly to suppliers and track logistics – all in one place. Ulyana’s mission is to ensure that in the face of any humanitarian crisis, such as the conflict in Ukraine or the earthquake in Turkey medical aid is provided immediately and efficiently. Her platform plays an essential role in being a trusted liaison between humanitarian efforts and corporate organisations.
