OYW partners with Vanity Fair to launch inaugural Global Goals List

One Young World (OYW) and Vanity Fair today launch the inaugural Global Goals List – honouring those leading the charge to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The Global Goals List, published online and in the March edition of Vanity Fair, is created in partnership with OYW.

The honourees of the inaugural Global Goals List are as follows:

  1. Zero Poverty: Professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Laureate and founder of Grameen Bank
  2. Zero Hunger: Brian Bosire, founder of agricultural technology company UjuziKilimo
  3. Good Health and Well Being: Olivier Noel, founder of genetics start-up DNAsimple
  4. Education: Gordon Brown, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and current United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education
  5. Gender Equality: Amanda Nguyen, founder and CEO of Rise and writer of the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill of Rights
  6. Clean Water and Sanitation: Daroath Phav, executive director of WaterSHED
  7. Renewable Energy: Akon, former rapper, entrepreneur, and philanthropist
  8. Good Jobs and Economic Growth: Rosario Dawson & Abrima Erwiah, co-founders of social enterprise Studio One Eighty Nine
  9. Innovation and infrastructure: Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter
  10. Reduced Inequalities: Sinéad Burke, Academic, writer and Contributing Editor to British Vogue
  11. Sustainable Cities: Naisula Lesuuda, Kenyan politician and woman’s rights activist
  12. Responsible consumption and production: Paul Polman, former CEO of Unilever
  13. Climate Action: Christiana Figueres, former Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
  14. Life below water: Jacqueline Fernandez, Sri Lankan actress and an award-winning humanitarian rights advocate
  15. Life on Land: Neyder Culchac, Colombian farmer and social campaigner
  16. Peace, justice & strong institutions: Theodor Meron, judge and President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (Mechanism)
  17. Partnerships for the Goals: Jayathma Wickramanayake, UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth
