One Young World is proud of our Coordinating Ambassador, Kurba Marie Questelles who organised a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Bahamas for the One Young World Community.
On the 25th of October, the Prime Minister of the Bahamas addressed a selection of One Young World Ambassadors at a roundtable discussion with young people from the Caribbean Youth Environment Network and other regional networks. The issue of climate change and sustainable development was discussed in this meeting.
"While we may be seeing the effects of Climate Change today, it is your generation that will feel the impact in coming decades. We must take immediate action to lower green house emissions and meet the necessary global targets."
In this meeting, Ambassadors discussed the importance of climate action in the Caribbean region. The Caribbean Youth Environment Network and Global Shapers also contributed to the discussion on Climate Action. We also explored methods of solving the issue of migration during Natural Disasters in the Caribbean.
"The OYW Caribbean Community was honoured to have had a Caribbean Prime Minister to host such pertinent discussions with young people in our region. We hope that other Caribbean leaders would be willing to follow the lead of the Honourable Phillip Davis, Q.C. by facilitating similar conversations with young persons in their country and across the region to develop solutions to challenges that we all face as stakeholders of the Caribbean community."
