Alfonso Gómez Palacio is the CEO of Hispam de Telefónica, a role in which he is responsible for all the assets and Company operations in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and Mexico. A lawyer by training, Palacio rose quickly through the ranks of Telecom. In 2002, he chaired Telecom, leading the process of transformation and creation of Colombia Telecommunications S.A. ESP, and thus becoming the head operator of telecommunications services in charge of the Colombian State. Between 2007 and 2016, Palacio held the position of Executive President of Telefónica in Colombia, responsible for the group's assets mobile and fixed. His main achievements in this role include the deployment of the first 4G network in the country and the development of the fiber optic network in Colombia. In 2017, Palacio was assumed as President of Telefónica Colombia, managing the financial and operational results of the company, in addition to leading the capitalisation process for an amount of 1,370 million euros approximately. In 2018, he led the Hispam Norte región of Telefónica, and then assumed the position of CEO of Hispam de Telefónica the following year. Through this current role, Palacio seeks to find alternatives to maximize the value of Hispam's operations, attracting investors and obtaining potential synergies with other market agents to accelerate and grow.
