Ali Fazal is an accomplished actor with a career that spans both big and small screens. Born in India, Fazal caught the attention of the global audience after starring as the titular character in Focus Features’ 'Victoria & Abdul' opposite Judi Dench. Catching the eye of Academy Award nominated director Stephen Frears and beating out thousands of actors to earn the coveted role, the film released in 2017 after premiering at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals and went on to earn Golden Globe, SAG and Oscar nominations.
That same year Fazal earned Variety’s coveted “10 Actors to Watch” Award that was presented at the Hamptons Film Festival and was invited to join the Academy. Fazal joins the all-star ensemble cast as ‘Cousin Andrew' of Kenneth Branagh’s 'Death on the Nile' for Disney, a follow up film to the widely-successful 'Murder on Orient Express'. Fazal currently stars in the lead role of the Amazon Original Series 'Mirzapur', where the series follows the rise of simpleton ‘Guddu’ to the city’s most feared crime boss. The series is one of Amazon Original’s most watched shows in the world.
Fazal launched into stardom in India with the widely popular '3 Idiots' (2009), which became the highest grossing Indian film abroad with $90m inbox office outside of India. His follow up film was with the hit comedy franchise 'Fukrey' and since starred in memorable roles in 'Bobby Jasoos', 'Milan Talkies' and Netflix Original film 'House Arrest'. Fazal also appeared in the IFC series 'Bollywood Hero' that aired in 2009. Fazal made his American film debut in 2015 when he appeared in the seventh installment of the blockbuster 'Fast & Furious' franchise, 'Furious 7' as Dubai’s expert car mechanic and underground racer Safar.
