Diwigdi Valiente
Director of Planning and Tourism Development at the Panamanian Ministry of Tourism
Diwi specialised in sustainable tourism and policies for the development of indigenous tourism in Panama obtaining a Swiss Higher Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management and a Bachelor's Degree in International Business and Tourism Management from César Ritz University. He also holds a Master in Economics and Finance from INCAE, Costa Rica, where he focused on public policies for the development of the tourism cluster in Panama. Diwi has been a consultant for hotel chains and non-governmental organisations on issues related to sustainable tourism, indigenous peoples and the blue economy. Diwi has represented Panama in multiple World Congresses focused on developing innovative ideas to foster sustainable development worldwide and achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. For his initiatives and achievements related to ocean conservation and indigenous peoples’ rights, in September 2020 he was selected as one of the 10 young leaders of the future in Panama.
